Day Trip to NC Mountains

Hi all! For those of you in the blizzard, we hope you stay warm, cuddly and safe!

We thought we'd share some pictures from our mountain drive on Saturday. We had beautiful weather here. Initially, Mamma and Daddy wanted to hike BUT due to my bad knees, I don't like to hike very far. Mamma REALLY wanted me to go so we did a driving tour with some breaks. These are from the Cashiers-Highlands area of NC- about an hour and a half north of our house.

Calhoun is ready to go.

McIver is also ready.

Lucy's serious face and Nikki at the ready

Gassing up... hehehe... no really we were getting gas.

frozen mountains

Bridal Veil Falls

the water fall above Bridal Veil- Mamma forgot the name...

Daddy with his girl- Juicy Lucy is chunky!

Is everyone in?

What's next?

Lucy is tired.

McIver says, "Dude, I think I am gonna puke?"

No joke- poor McIver has had car sickness since he was a puppy. He has overcome it for the most part. Unfortunately Daddy's driving in the mountains was just too much. He threw up 3 times and every time, I  tried to climb in the front seat. YUCK!!

Mamma Heartbeat here...We have ordered seatbelts for the boys but they haven't arrived yet.

  5. Great trip aside from the puking. Mom had a pup once who couldn't ride in the car. She used to use dramamine for her, but then she worked on conditioning her little by little. Just a short ride down the driveway and back, then a few houses and back, then a street and back, and so on. After a short while she was able to take the pup for longer rides.

    Those waterfalls were awesome.

  6. Looks like a great trip. Sorry about the upset tummy! Angel Sister Shelby used to get sick every time she got in the car. Didn't matter how far mom went.

  7. Wow, grate pikshures! Thanks - I needed a no snow fix. Hey, a V-E-T once told mom that gibbing a dog a cuppull of black jelly beans afore riding in the car stops puking. We nefur tried it because I overcame my car puking after we took a 17 hour road trip (ran out of puke and realized it not be necessary as part of the automotive eggsperience) but I rememmer the V-E-T saying that. If'n you try it, lemme know if it werks. Just in case I efur decide to puke in the car again.

  8. We're all oooing and aahing over your pictures! What a great place! It looks especially nice as the snow just keeps falling and falling and falling here! We could sure enjoy a place like that.

We're sorry Mac didn't feel so well in the car. Morgan says he's still as handsome as ever, though!

  11. Ugh! Been there with the carsick dogs... 2 out of 3 used to get sick and I have no idea what made it better except that they are in the car at least twice a week now for agility classes and the like. Maybe lots of time and experience in the car?? In any case, I feel for you!! Beautiful shots, thank you for sharing!

  12. Awww...NC!! Only 235 days till we go back...but who's counting?? Great piktures!!

Nothing is as bad as tossing your cookies in the car...well, except for having to sit in your tossed cookies until the peoples can pull over and clean it up. I've done it twice...once coming home from Dr. VET from getting fixed and once while mom was driving like a mad woman trying to find some trail. blah!

  14. Doubt the seat belts will help with the car sickness. Mama also suggests asking the vet about giving Mac Dramamine. Well, the photos were lovely!

  17. You were close to us. The nursing home we visit is in Franklin, NC, though most of the hiking we do is closer to our home. We have been to those water falls though.
