Unusual Behavior

Hi Blog Friends! Momma Heartbeat here.

I have a question for all of you out there!

Most of you remember my post about McIver and his serious behavior. If not, here and here is a refresher.

Since McIver's injury he has been receiving special attention of course. He has become a WILD MAN!!! He is hilarious! Serious McIver comes out very infrequently now. He jumps around like a goofball. By the way, his stitches are unaffected by this activity. If I get up, he follows me. His tail doesn't stop wagging. He constantly has a gigantic grin on his face. I have never seen him quite this happy!

I am just not sure what to make of it. I think he's lost his mind!! Did the V-E-T give him a lobotomy?

Have any of you experienced anything like this before?

  5. I had a Greyhound who had serious epilepsy when we first got her. She was always so prim and proper and dainty. About eight months after we got her, we finally got her on the right medicine to control her seizures and her personality really blossomed. Suddenly, she found humor in a lot of things and got a lot more active. To me, it felt as if she'd been walking on eggshells during the time it took for the right medicine. It's not exactly the same thing that you went through, but it has some similarities.

  6. You know what I think? I think McIver has figured out that he's there to stay! And he's not going anywhere again and he can let his furs down...er, so to speak. I remembers the first day I was able to let my furs down. I was all kinds of skeered before that but one day, it hit me. I was HOME. And my pawrents luved me and were gonna keep me safe. And all of a sudden, I had lots of energy and I ran around like a crazy puppy and played with toys and played tug with my mom. Oh, gosh, it was wonderful!

Now, that doesn't mean I was never skeered again - and well, McIver will prolly have his serious moments again, too - but I knew in my heart that I'd found my Most Pawfect Home That Ever Was and it made me happy!

  7. I had a very similar experience to Miss Mayzie. I was very serious and conservative for some time and then one day I realized I could be as silly as I wanted to be and my two-leggers would love me no matter what! My sister Cali always gets really happy and a little clingy when she's reunited with mom after being separated from her for any length of time longer than a work day! I'm glad McIver is happy!! Keep us posted!!

  8. I just have to say that McIver is one of the coolest names I've ever heard for a dog... wish it was mine. Only follows that he would be a fan of duct tape! BOL.
